Elder Scrolls mods are one of the best parts of the series improving the graphics, adding in new items and even completely new quest lines. It’s understood by the PC community that modding an Elder Scrolls game is a must and Skyrim will not be the exception to this tradition. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been out for almost a month now and the mods keep flowing in, Skyrim is sure to have thousands of mods available to it throughout its lifetime. With that we’ve compiled a list of the 10 best mods you must have for the epic adventure title Skyrim.
#1: FXAA Post Process Injector
Most gamers are always looking for a little something extra when it comes to post effects in gaming in hopes to add to the realism. FXAA seems to be the best Post Process injector so far adding in bloom, sharpen, technicolor, sepia, tonemap, vignette and even more. This mod is also completely customizable allowing you to adjust each setting to your personal preferences.
#2: Val’s Crafting Meltdown
With Val’s Crafting Meltdown Mod players can now meltdown the useless armor pieces and weapons they find during their travels and turn them in to raw materials. This mod also allows for the creation of arrows which many players have been asking for since the release of Skyrim. There are plenty of other crafting mods but this one is the best, it’s even compatible with most of the other crafting mods.
#3: Skyrim HD
Skyrim HD is a project aimed to replace most of Skyrim’s original textures based on the premise of improvement, particularly HD improvement. If the current tectures aren’t hard enough for your computer to load then this mod is something you should take a look at.
#4: Realistic Water
Water in Skyrim is already stunning but the Realistic Water Mod creates even better water effects adding to the realism of Skyrim. Skyrim’s streams will now foam and bubble in a very realistic way.
#5: Nicer Snowflakes
With the Holidays approaching we felt it would be appropriate to post the Nice Snowflakes mod on our list. This mods adds a variety of new snow flows in high resolution replacing the lame white blobs Skyrim had before. Even if you don’t like snow this mod is surely worth a download.
#6: Immersive Skyrim Thunder V4
This mod changes Skyrim’s rain effects and adds in the much needed thunder sound effects. The perfect mod for those of you looking to test out your new surround sound systems.
#7: Detailed Faces
Xenius has been busy developing his character model mods. This particular mod improves the faces of each race by fixing their noses, chins and enhancing other facial features. Xenius’s other mods include: High Quality Eyes, No More Blocky Faces, Detailed Bodies, Detailed Lips, and Better Beast Races.
#8: Skyrim 4GB
After installing most of the mods from this list you’ll most likely experience some slow downs. Bethesda designed Skyrim to utilize no more than 2GB of RAM no matter how much you actually have installed. Luckily this Skyrim 4GB fixes that issues and allows you to push your system like never before.
#9: Enhanced Night Sky
Skyrim’s night sky is already absolutely stunning but of course someone wasn’t completely satisfied with it. This replaces Skyrim’s night sky with high resolution textures without messing up Skyrim’s in-game constellations.
#10: Glowing Ore Veins
This is the perfect mod for the miner at heart. As players know finding veins is a little difficult, sometimes you can walk by them without ever noticing. This mod fixes that issue by adding glow maps to each of he individual ore veins.

Bit of a noob at this pc carry on so could someone with more experience help me out?
I just got a system with a core i3 2100 and a Sapphire HD 6870, will I be able to run any of these with on that system?
Even if it is only the HD graphics mod, I’d be happy. I’d really love to add a few of them, though, like the detailed faces, enhanced night sky and realistic water.
I’d be willing to OC the GPU a little, but I can’t go up too much as I don’t have the best cooling system at the minute.

all these mods are crap with the exception of 4gb and maybe HD. Killable children mod is missing from the list. Bottom line, this list sucks, so do the console fags.

and people wonder why gamers have a bad rep…

do you mean… pc gamers? We have a lot to be incendiary about. We have to wait for gems like Mount and Blade or Dwarf Fortress to come about for a really amazing game. It’s all about “streamlining” which means “appealing to the largest demographic” these days in the world of big budget gaming. I’ll play skyrim, fallout 3 etc, but they are more about the graphics and mass appeal than good game mechanics.

Yeah I know, I’m waiting for someone to make Xbox Mods. I have a friend who modded Borderlands, Oblivion, and Fallout: New Vegas and I can’t wait until Skyrim has 360 mods so I can enjoy them too. Oh yah BTW where is the nude mod? It’s pretty important!

dang if only these worked for 360

I know right? I’d even consider paying money for some of these… hope Bethesda works out something for us console users :P

You knew perfectly well that you screwed yourself when you bought the console, and you knew it when you bought the game as well. Everyone knows that game companies can’t make decent games anymore, and that all games needs modding to become half decent. In fact, game companies rely on modding to make their games half decent.

Consoles are already at the end of their tether as far as graphics go. You couldn’t implement any of these graphics mods without the bringing console to its knees in terms of loading times and framerates. If you want the custom graphics mods, buy yourself a good pc. only option.

Serves you right to buy a console!
